Nature walks

Our most beautiful nature walks to discover in the Loire Valley and Orléans Forest

Nature walks along the Loire

The Parc Départemental du Château in Châteauneuf-sur-Loire: An attractive park designed in the 17th century in the style of Le Nôtre and redesigned in 1821 as an English park. It boasts a magnificent avenue of rhododendrons and azaleas, giant magnolias and tulip trees (flowering May-June). Also worth a visit is the Temple of Love, rehabilitated and inaugurated on February 14, 2009. The second, more natural, part of the park is a space for discovering and observing biodiversity and wetland ecosystems. Panels explain the flora and fauna present.

Le site naturel de Courpain à Ouvrouër-les-Champs: This former aggregate quarry is now a sensitive natural site  managed by the Maison de Loire du Loiret. The site is regularly visited by guides. You can observe the Loire’s flora and fauna.

Discovery trails in the Forêt d’Orléans

Le sentier des bois Bézard : This guide for the curious walker, published by the Office National des Forêt, takes you around the Etang de la Vallée. An exceptional site between Combreux, Vitry-aux-Loges and Seichebrières. 15km of marked trails, explained in this guide. Take a playful look at the natural world around you. Admire the trees, mushrooms, flowers, ponds and birds. Then climb to the top of the Caillettes lookout to learn more about forestry.

Forest Art Trail: In 2011, five artists sculpted exotic coniferous trees planted by foresters over a century ago. These dying trees have been transformed into monumental works of art.  Find them on this trail.

The Carnutes sensory trail in Combreux:  A trail for all (adapted surfacing, sensory desks with relief and Braille) through the Druid forest.
