Towns and villages in the Loire Valley

Discover our towns and villages as you walk through the forest of Orléans and the Val de Loire.

Listed as a living cultural landscape by UNESCO 20 years ago, the Val de Loire lies between Sully-sur-Loire and Chalonnes near Angers.

The Val de Loire and Forêt d’Orléans represents an area of 20 communes to the north and south of the Loire:

With its unspoilt nature and rich flora and fauna, the Loire is the only wild river in France.

You’ll love fishing here, as well as sailing in a traditional boat or canoe, picnicking while watching the sun set or simply sunbathing on one of the wild beaches…
However, we would remind you that swimming is prohibited for safety reasons.

The Orléans forest also offers a unique nature experience. From the lookout point, contemplate the largest state-owned forest in France. Explore it on one of the many circuits and footpaths to recharge your batteries.
